Types of Membership
All members of COSVIO must conform to Islamic principles, jurisprudence, and practices. Members are also required to comply with COSVIO’s Guiding Principles. Below are the different membership types and their requirements:
Observers (non 501(c)(3)) are organizations invited by COSVIO’s membership to attend or observe its meetings. Observers do not have voting rights but can participate in discussions and activities as guests.
Active members are organizations with voting privileges and are subject to the following criteria:
- Approved Membership Request – The organization must successfully complete the membership request process, which requires approval by COSVIO’s general membership.
- 501(c)(3) Status – The organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, as defined by the IRS and the State of California.
- Local Presence – The organization must be located or have a local physical office in the Sacramento Valley, as defined in Section 5.01 of COSVIO’s bylaws.
- Membership Fees – The organization must have paid its membership fees in full by the last day of the year. The initial membership fee is $800 per organization and is due by December 31, 2024.
